NATIONAL TOURNAMENT PROGRAMME

The 34th Aotearoa Māori Netball Oranga Healthy Lifestyles Tournament is being proudly hosted by Te Tai Tokerau Māori Netball at the Whangarei Netball Centre, Kensington.

Friday 2 April

PŌWHIRI

National Tournament pōwhiri will take place at 1pm at the ASB Stadium, Kensington, Whangarei.  All whānau are welcome to attend.  Please be gathered outside the stadium by 12.45pm at the latest.  Coach, Manager and Umpire meetings generally take place following pōwhiri.  We will await confirmation of details from our host waka.

Saturday 3 April

MARCH PASS

Don't miss one of the most exciting pre-games events where waka compete for the Araroa Memorial trophy, performing their march pass chants highlighting all the important components of Māori netball.  March pass starts at 8am.

Saturday 4 April

TOURNAMENT - DAY ONE

Game on!!  Each team will play nine games over two days of gruelling competition that pits waka against waka in a massive showcase of talent.  Once available, we will post the tournament draw on this page.  Games usually commence at 9am and conclude around 4pm.

Sunday 4 April

TOURNAMENT - DAY TWO

Join us as we witness the true grit and determination of our kotiro and volunteers as they do it all over again on day two!!  Games normally kick off at 8.30am and conclude at 3pm.  We will post the tournament draw once available.

Sunday 4 April

NATIONAL PRIZEGIVING

A celebration of all the achievements and hard work across the motu regardless of the outcomes on the court.  Nau mai, haere mai whānau.  Prizegiving generally commences at 3.30pm.

QUESTIONS

HOW IS AOTEA GETTING TO WHANGAREI?

Aotea players and team management will travel by bus and vans (if required) from Hawera through to Whangarei.  Due to driver log hour restrictions, this means we will need to travel on Thursday 2nd of April 2021 leaving early in the morning.  Whanganui whānau will need to travel through to Hawera to catch the bus.  We'll figure out the logistics once teams have been confirmed.  The bus will return on Monday 5th April 2021.  It is essential that players travel up and stay with the waka but players are able to go home with whānau after tournament.

WHERE IS AOTEA STAYING?

Aotea players and management are staying at Whakapara Marae.  Click here for more information on the marae.

WHAT WILL IT COST?

We ask players to contribute $250 towards the cost of attending National tournament.  This covers the cost of travel, accommodation and meals from Thursday evening through to Monday afternoon.  If you are selected into a team, we will provide you with an official 1 to 25 Koha Card for your to seek sponsorship and donations towards these costs.  Click here to see a sample.
